Biographical Information[edit]
John Marquardt represented the USA in the 1982 Amateur World Series. He was picked by the Oakland Athletics in the 3rd round of the 1983 Amateur Draft (one pick after Rick Aguilera), and he hit .294/.363/.374 in 62 games for the Madison Muskies in 1983. He then recorded a .252/.370/.322 batting line while fielding .949 at short there in 1984, and he played 109 games with a .266/.332/.326 batting line in 1985 with the Huntsville Stars; he was their most-used player at both second and short. Marquardt was picked by the Minnesota Twins in the AAA portion of the 1985 Rule V Draft, and he hit .217/.273/.275 for the Orlando Twins in 1986 then he announced his retirement.
