Biographical Information

Jake Pérez has played in the minors and for the Costa Rican national team.

He was the 15th Costa Rican player to sign with a MLB organization. Bryan Solano was the only other active Costa Rican when Jake signed with the San Diego Padres in late 2020. Playing every position except catcher and center field for the 2021 DSL Padres, he hit .348/.486/.500 with 29 runs in 41 games. Had he qualified, he would've been 5th in the Dominican Summer League in average and OBP and tied Adrian Pinto for 2nd in OPS.

Coming stateside in 2022, he slipped to .208/.317/.264 for the ACL Padres. He split 2023 between the ACL Padres (1 for 4, 3 R), El Paso Chihuahuas (0 for 7, BB) and San Antonio Missions (.167/.300/.417 in 9 G). He then helped Costa Rica win their second baseball Silver Medal in a Central American Games (and first in 39 years) when they took that honor in the 2025 Central American Games; he had 3 hits and a homer in their crucial 4-2 win over #3 Honduras.
