Biographical Information[edit]
Isao Wada played in Nippon Pro Baseball for 7 years.
Wada signed with the Mainichi Orions in 1952, and he was 5-4 with a 3.40 ERA in 1953. He improved to 16-7 with a 2.22 ERA in 1954, and he was 10th in wins (tied with Junzo Sekine and Yoshihiko Taki) and 7th in strikeouts (between Taki and Fumio Takechi) in the Pacific League. Wada extended his solid performance in 1955 as he was 18-6 with a 2.24 ERA, and he ranked 5th in ERA (between Hachiro Abe and Yasuo Yonekawa), 7th in strikeouts (between Noboru Yamashita and Taisei Nakamura) and 8th in wins (tied with Takao Kajimoto, Takashi Nakagawa and Atsushi Aramaki). He went 14-17 with a 2.55 ERA in 1956, and he was 6th in losses (tied with Kajimoto). Wada slumped to 3-3 with a 4.13 ERA in 1957, and he went 3-3 with a 2.38 ERA in 1958. He moved to the Osaka Tigers in 1959, but he had a 5.04 ERA in 17 relief outings and he announced his retirement.
Overall, Wada was 59-40 with a 2.70 ERA, struck out 565 and pitched 886 1/3 innings in 7 seasons in NPB.
