Biographical Information[edit]

Right-hander Ike Pearson spent ten seasons in professional baseball from 1939 to 1951. Pearson enlisted in the United States Marines in September 1942, during World War II, serving as a Captain, and was discharged in February 1946.

Pearson was a hard-luck pitcher who lost nearly 80% of his major league games. He was with the Philadelphia Phillies for four seasons (1939-1942) and also in 1946 on his return from the service. Ike also spent time with the Chicago White Sox in 1948. He was converted mainly to a reliever in 1941 and had six saves, but thereafter had fewer save opportunities. Pearson ended his big league career in 1948 with a 13-50 record and a 4.83 ERA, while appearing in 164 games.

Pearson also spent five years in the minors (1946-1947, 1949-1951) with a 22-28 record in 211 games.

He died on March 17, 1985 in Sarasota, FL at the age of 68.
