Relief pitcher Heath Wyatt began his professional career in 2011. He was taken by the St. Louis Cardinals in the 33rd round of the 2011 amateur draft after having been an All-American in NCAA Division II.
He started his career with a 3.24 ERA, 8 saves and a 10.8 K/9 IP ratio for the Johnson City Cardinals. In 2012, he had a 2.24 mark and 20 saves for the Quad Cities River Bandits, leading the Midwest League in games pitched (55) and finishing third in saves. In 2013, he had a 2.88 ERA in 52 games between the Palm Beach Cardinals and Springfield Cardinals. He was third in the Cards chain in games pitched. He spent all of 2014 with the Triple-A Memphis Redbirds and had a 4.36 ERA in 45 games but his 1.86 walk/inning rate was lowest among relievers in the 2014 PCL. He began 2015 with Springfield, but was promoted to Memphis partway through the year.
