Biographical Information[edit]
Keiji Takahashi has pitched in Nippon Pro Baseball.
Takahashi was selected by the Hanshin Tigers in the 2nd round of the 2017 NPB draft; the scout was Makoto Yoshino. He debuted on April 11, 2018, and he was the first Hanshin rookie to get a win in his debut in the Koshien Stadium since Minoru Murayama in 1959. However, Takahashi suffered from left shoulder injury, so he only started 6 games with a 3.63 ERA in his rookie year. He went 3-9 with a 3.78 ERA in 2019, and he was 3rd in losses (tied with Koyo Aoyagi and Daichi Osera) and 8th in strikeouts (between Yasuhiro Ogawa and Tomoyuki Sugano).
The Shizuoka native was 5-4 with a 2.49 ERA in 2020, and he pitched well in 2021 after he missed the first 5 months due to injuries. He went 4-2 with a 1.65 ERA in his first 7 starts, and he completed back-to-back shutouts on October 2. He was the first Hanshin's southpaw to do so after Toshiro Yufune did it in 1992. Takahashi underwentTommy John surgery after that season, and he missed the next two seasons. He returned in 2024, and he was 4-1 with a 1.52 ERA in 5 games.
His repertoire includes a slider, changeup, cutter and fastball (peak 94.4 mph).
