Biographical Information

Harry Tebeau was born as Philias Thibault in Canada, though went by the name Harry as he grew up in Lewiston, ME. As he became known as a ballplayer in his hometown, his name tended to appear in the local newspapers as "Tebeau", likely owing to the fame of major-leaugers George and Patsy Tebeau. He played outfield for local teams from 1889 to 1893, including for Lewiston's club in the 1891 New England League. In those years he played alongside Pat O'Connell, John O'Brien, Abel Lizotte, and Jim McCormick, who all played in the major leagues and had ties to Lewiston.
