Biographical Information[edit]
Greg Gromek played for the USA national baseball team and in the minor leagues.
Gromek represented the USA in the 1970 Amateur World Series. The Detroit Tigers picked him in the 34th round of the 1971 Amateur Draft, and he hit .213/.295/.329 for the Batavia Trojans in 1971. He was then turned into a pitcher, and he was 5-5 with a 3.35 ERA for the Lakeland Tigers in 1972. Gromek was 6-2 with a 2.19 ERA in Lakeland in 1973, and he had a 2-1 record with a 3.44 ERA for the Wilson Pennants in the same year. He reached AA level in that season, but his ERA was 5.40 in 9 appearances for the Montgomery Rebels. Gromek went 7-6 with a 4.29 ERA for the Rebels in 1974, and he announced his retirement.
