Gracjan Anthony Kraszewski

Biographical Information[edit]

Gracjan Kraszewski is a switch-hitting outfielder and catcher who played for the Arrows Ostrava of the Czech Extraliga in 2009, the Namur Angels of the Belgian First Division in 2010, and represented the Poland national baseball team in international competition between 2011-2013. Over seven seasons (2006-2013) at various levels, he recorded a .342 batting average and an .869 OPS.

Kraszewski began his college career at Seton Hall University, [1] redshirting his lone season at the school in 2006. He transferred to King's College (PA), playing for the Monarchs between 2007-2009. [2] [3] He was twice named an all-conference outfielder Times-Leader </ref> (his .443 batting average in 2008 ranking 36th nationally in NCAA Division III) [4] and graduated in 2009 with the highest batting average in school history, .406, a mark since surpassed, he now holding the second highest career batting average in Monarch program history [5] .He played two seasons of summer ball in the now-defunct Boise Summer League, for the Nampa Wolfpack, in 2007 and 2008.

Kraszewski played two seasons professionally in Europe’s first division leagues in 2009 and 2010 [6] .Playing for the Arrows Ostrava of the Czech Extraliga in 2009, he hit .330 and helped the team make the Czech Championship, finishing second in the Extraliga and #24 overall in Europe. [7] [8] In 2010, he signed a three-month contract with the Namur Angels of the Belgian First Division, playing the first half of that season, hitting .262.[9] [10] He was briefly signed by the Pecos Bills of the independent Pecos League for the 2013 season but the team folded in January of that year and he was released before he could take part in any games.[11] [12]]. In 2011, he debuted for the Polish national baseball team at the 2011 European Championship Qualifiers in Antwerp, Belgium, hitting .438/.526/.688 for a 1.214 OPS. He was 6th in the qualifier in average (between Jamie Verheyleweghen and Hans Heyrman), 3rd in slugging, tied for second in OBP, tied for second in hits (7, two behind Dennis Ribbens), tying for 5th in RBI (4), tying Steven De Lannoy and Jakub Horáček for the double lead (2) and was second with 11 total bases. [13] He returned to compete for Poland again at the 2013 B-Level European Championship in Zurich, Switzerland, playing an error-free centerfield but hitting a disappointing .143 during the tournament.
