Biographical Information

Gianni Bloom was a walk-on catcher at UC Santa Barbara after two years at Sierra College. He graduated in 2022 with a degree in Communications and then joined UCSB’s staff as Director of Player Development. In this role, he focused upon scouting, strategy, run prevention, and catcher development. Bloom remained with the Gauchos (AKA Dirtbags) until early 2024.

The Miami Marlins hired Bloom in 2024 as a defensive coach for the Jupiter Hammerheads where he worked with catchers, outfielders, and base runners. In 2025, Bloom announced he would manage one of the Dominican Summer League teams and according to his LinkedIn page[1], he did so. However, the rosters for the DSL Marlins and DSL Miami teams listed Carlos Mota and Oscar Escobar as their respective managers for the season. Bloom will reportedly have a new role in 2026, serving as Manager of Dominican Academy Development.
