Gersel Pitre has played in the minors and for the Venezuelan national team. Through 2025, he has played every position except shortstop.
Signed by the Los Angeles Dodgers, he hit .236/.324/.270 for the 2014 DSL Dodgers; at catcher, he threw out 33.3% of those who tried to steal. He split '15 between the AZL Dodgers (.392/.477/.514 in 29 G) and Ogden Raptors (.279/.311/.419 in 11 G) for a fine .350 summer. He spent all of 2016 with Ogden, batting .269/.305/.328 with 38 runs in 52 games and throwing out 42%. In '17, he was with Ogden (.346/.355/.453 in 43 G) and the Great Lakes Loons (.247/.304/.396 in 27 G).
In 2018, he was back with Ogden (6 for 12, 2B, HR) and Great Lakes (.282/.299/.335 in 56 G) and pitched a shutout inning for Ogden as well. Making his Venezuelan League debut, he was 7 for 24 with a walk and a double for the Tigres de Aragua. He hit .284/.286/.284 in 19 games for the 2019 Loons to end his time in the Dodgers chain. He was 3 for 12 with 4 runs for the 2020-2021 Tigres and 9-for-24 with two walks, a double and a dinger in 2021-2022. He produced at an impressive .410/.448/.492 rate the next winter, appearing in 21 games. He backed up Dennis Ortega and Wilson Ramos behind the dish.
Pitre remained a productive sub for Aragua in 2023-2024, when he hit .310/.326/.405. He was 0 for 6 for the Pericos de Puebla in the 2024 Mexican League. Returning to Venezuela, he was 7 for 19 with 3 walks, 3 runs and 2 RBI for the 2024-2025 Leones del Caracas. Appearing for Venezuela in the 2025 Bolivarian Games, he started at first base and hit .294/.381/.353 with 5 runs in 5 games, handling 24 chances error-free. He tied for 4th in runs and was 6th in putouts (23). Venezuela won the Bronze Medal and was named the event's All-Star first baseman. [1]
Back with Caracas in 2025-2026, he was 3 for 9.
