Biographical Information[edit]

Frank Maupin was a catcher from Kansas City who played for Plattsmouth, NE in the 1892 Nebraska State League. That league featured several integrated teams, and his teammates included John Patterson and Jack Reeves. Maupin was described as being quick and a strong thrower as a catcher[1].

Aside from his one league stint, Maupin played for both all-black and integrated teams in Kansas City, Nebraska, and Kansas, with documented games from at least 1886 to 1899. He was a member of the Lincoln Giants, one of the most prominent all-back teams in the west of the era, in 1890. He also worked as a barber in Kansas City, where he died of tuberculosis in 1907.
