Biographical Information[edit]

Infielder Felix Fermin Jr. is the son of Félix Fermín, brother of Andy Fermín, and nephew of Carlos Fermin.

Fermin played briefly in the lower minor leagues (2006-2007) before embarking on a coaching, managing, and scouting career. Fermin was the manager of the Granjeros de Moca of the Liga de Verano del Cibao (Cibao Summer League) in 2008-2010, 2018-2019, and 2021-2023. He managed his team to the league championship every year. The 2024 New York Mets media guide provided other information about his career, only some of which could be confirmed by other sources.[1]

The Mets guide listed him as a coach for the Delfines de Ciudad del Carmen and Sultanes de Monterrey in the Mexican League. Fermin was the third base coach for Monterrey in 2016-2017, when his father managed the team.

The Mets guide indicated he served as an international scout for the Tampa Bay Rays from 2018-2023. The Rays media guides listed him as a scout in 2021 and 2023, but not the other years. It is possible the Rays didn't include scouts in their media guides some years.

The Mets guide noted that Fermin coached for the Águilas Cibaeñas in 2008/2009-2009/2010 and from 2014/2015 to 2025/2026. The following years and positions were confirmed.

  • 2016/2017-2018/2019 First base coach
  • 2019/2020 Infield coach and defensive coordinator
  • 2021/2022 Infield coach and defensive coordinator
  • 2024/2025 Assistant infield coach
  • 2025/2026 Quality control coach

The New York Mets hired Fermin to manage the DSL Mets Orange team in 2024. He switched to the DSL Mets Blue in 2025 in the same role.
