Biographical Information

Ethan Goforth attended Carson-Newman University where he majored in Exercise Science and worked as the primary catcher for the Eagles. He was drafted by the Pittsburgh Pirates in the 25th round of the 2019 Amateur Draft and played in their minor league system in 2019 and 2021.

The Pirates released Goforth in August 2021 and offered him the opportunity to coach. He accepted the Pirates offer and became an assistant coach with the FCL Pirates Gold team where he worked primarily with catchers.[1] The Pirates showed considerable faith in his abilities the next year when they named him manager of the DSL Pirates Black. He repeated as manager in 2023. Goforth moved up to the Greensboro Grasshoppers in 2024 as their Catching & Game Planning Coach.

The St. Louis Cardinals hired Goforth in 2025 to serve as their Minor League Catching Coordinator. The Cardinals expanded his duties in 2026 with the title of Minor League Catching & Baserunning Coordinator.
