Enrique Antonio Lantigua Díaz (El Mariscal)
Enrique Lantigua was a star Dominican catcher. He was on the 1937 Dragones de Ciudad Trujillo team, the only Dominican on the squad; they had Josh Gibson as their main catcher. Lantigua was on the Dominican national team that won Silver in the 1942 Amateur World Series and Bronze in the 1943 Amateur World Series. He was on the Santiago team in 1948, the year they had a plane crash that killed the rest of the team. He had driven back to Santo Domingo and avoided their fate. He managed the Dominicans to the 1948 Amateur World Series, their first world title. He also guided them in the 1950 Amateur World Series. He was inducted into the Dominican Sports Hall of Fame in 1971.
