Biographical Information[edit]

Eileen Gascon appeared in the AAGPBL as a utility player in 1949 and 1951. She grew up in Chicago, IL and practically lived next door to Wrigley Field until she was around 18 years old and grew up playing baseball on the streets with local boys since she said there apparently weren't many girls to make friends with. She was with a team called the North Town Debs as a teenager before joining the Springfield Sallies. She spent 1950 with the Chicago Bluebirds of the local National Girls Baseball League (NGBL) and got back into the AAGPBL a year later. She played for three different teams that year; the Battle Creek Belles, Grand Rapids Chicks, and the Peoria Redwings. After this she returned to the Bluebirds.

Gascon, having lived so close to Wrigley, naturally grew up following the Cubs. The ballpark always provided her a safe space and she felt at home there because her uncle worked the gate. She is still a huge Cubs fan to this day and occasionally attends their games even in her 90s.
