Biographical Information

Ed Fulton played for the USA national baseball team and in the minor leagues, reaching AAA.

Fulton was drafted by the Atlanta Braves in the 26th round of the 1984 Amateur Draft, but he refused to sign and went to college. He represented the USA in the 1986 Amateur World Series. The St. Louis Cardinals picked him in the 16th round of the 1987 Amateur Draft, and he hit .290/.378/.522 in 67 games in 1987 for the Johnson City Cardinals. Fulton crushed 7 homers with a .267/.342/.409 batting line for the Springfield Cardinals in 1988, and he collected 75 RBI with a .243/.313/.347 batting line for the St. Petersburg Cardinals in 1989. Fulton recorded a .264/.351/.399 batting line in 48 games with the Arkansas Travelers in 1990, and he hit .240/.288/.390 in 36 games for the AAA Louisville Redbirds.

The Danville native stayed in Louisville in 1991, but he slumped to .197/.279/.258 in 45 games. Fulton struggled again in AAA level in 1992 as his batting line was .201/.267/.376 in 77 games, and he went 6-for-23 with the Travelers. He played 61 games with a .211/.265/.306 batting line in Louisville in 1993, and he hit .226/.290/.358 in 59 games for the Toledo Mud Hens affiliated with the Detroit Tigers in 1994. Fulton moved to the Boston Red Sox system in 1995, but he only played 9 games for the Pawtucket Red Sox and he announced his retirement. He later became an assistant coach for the Averett University from 1997 to 2017.
