Biographical Information[edit]

Pitcher Dugan Darnell was undrafted coming out of college and pitched in the independent leagues in 2019 and 2020 before signing with the Colorado Rockies on February 6, 2021. He made it to AA in 2022 and to AAA in 2023. He started the 2025 season with the Albuquerque Isotopes, going 5-2, 3.19 in 35 games before getting the call to Colorado.

His major league debut on August 1, 2025 came in one of the most memorable games in Rockies history. Playing at home, the Rox were already down 9-0 to the Pittsburgh Pirates after the top of the 1st inning, something almost not out of the ordinary for the team with the worst record in the majors. But they managed to claw their way back scoring once in the bottom of the 1st, and 9 more times between the 3rd and the 5th. Problem was, the Pirates had not stopped scoring either and were still up, 16-10, after six innings. That was still the score when Dugan came into the game in the 8th, but he reeled off two scoreless innings, during which the Rockies did the unthinkable, scoring twice in the bottom of the 8th, and then five times in the 9th, capped by a two-run walk-off homer by Brenton Doyle, to end up 17-16 winners in one of the wildest games ever. Darnell received credit for the win.
