Biographical Information[edit]
Catcher Drew Cavanaugh was drafted by the San Francisco Giants in the 17th round of the 2023 amateur draft from Florida Southern College. He started his pro career that same year with the ACL Giants Black. He made it to AAA by the end of 2024, when he played 9 games for the Sacramento RiverCats, going 9 for 30, although he spent most of that year in Class A with the San Jose Giants of the California League. He appeared at four different levels in 2025 - Class A, High-A, AA and AAA, hitting .264 in 91 games with 14 homers and 65 RBIs.
In 2026, he started the season in AA with the Richmond Flying Squirrels, then after 22 games was promoted to Sacramento. After another 32 games there, he was called up by the Giants on June 26th when Daniel Susac was placed on the injured list. He started that day's game behind the plate against the Atlanta Braves, going 1 for 3 with a walk in a 3-1 loss.
