Biographical Information[edit]

The granddaughter of Chicago White Sox founder Charles Comiskey, Dorothy Comiskey served as a secretary for her father J. Louis Comiskey when he owned the club in the 1930s. Following his death, ownership passed to his wife Grace, and Dorothy remained with the team, holding various positions.

Dorothy married Sox pitcher John Rigney on October 8, 1941. Following her mother's death in 1956, she became principal owner of the team, which led to a drawn-out legal dispute with her brother Chuck.

In 1959, Dorothy sold her stake in the Sox to Bill Veeck. She died in 1971 at age 54.
