Biographical Information[edit]
Pitcher Didier Fuentes had barely turned 20 three days earlier when he made his major league debut for the Atlanta Braves against the Miami Marlins on June 20, 2025. He started the game and pitched 5 innings, giving up 4 runs on 6 hits, to be charged with a 6-2 loss.
Fuentes was signed by the Braves as an international amateur free agent out of Colombia on January 15, 2022. He made his pro debut with the DSL Braves in 2022, going 1-1, 2.25 in 11 starts and pitching 44 innings. He moved to the U.S. in 2023, going 0-4, 7.27 for the Augusta GreenJackets of the Carolina League. He returned to the same team in 2024, pitching much better as he went 3-6, 2.74 in 18 games (17 starts) and 98 strikeouts in 78 2/3 innings. 2025 was a whirlwind, as he started in Class A with the Rome Emperors of the South Atlantic League, then was promoted to the Columbus Clingstones of the Southern League on April 25th, and again to the Gwinnett Stripers of the International League on June 13th. A week later, he was on a major league mound, in spite of having gone 0-7 in his three minor league stops and was the youngest player in the major leagues at the time - a full year younger than Roman Anthony, who was just 21 years and 1 month old. Fuentes was also the first major leaguer born in the year 2005. He had probably been promoted to the Show a bit too early, as in his 4 starts that season, he put up an ERA of 13.65 and went 0-3, with 23 hits allowed in 13 innings.
