Biographical Information[edit]

Richard Wright Nebinger was an infielder and outfielder whose professional baseball career ran from 1907 through 1913. He attended Dickinson College, Morris Harvey College, and West Virginia University. At West Virginia University he was a football star and later served as head coach of the baseball team in 1909, when West Virginia went 18-8 in his only season as coach.[1][4]

Nebinger played professionally for the Akron Champs, Beaver Falls Beavers, Butler White Sox, Fairmont Badies, Chattanooga Lookouts, Sacramento Sacts, Oakland Oaks, Rockford Wolverines, and Harrisburg Senators. After his playing days he served as athletic director and coached all sports at Bluefield Beaver High School from 1921 through 1930, and he later was athletic director and a faculty member at Concord College from 1930 through 1952.[1]
