Biographical Information[edit]

Dick DeSa played in Nippon Pro Baseball for 5 years. He was the uncle of Joe DeSa.

DeSa signed with the Daimai Orions in 1961, and he was 5-4 with a 2.93 ERA in his first season. He then went 9-9 with a 4.16 ERA in 1962, and he tied Tadao Wako for 3rd in walks in the Pacific League. DeSa was 2-5 with a 3.75 ERA in 1963, and he became the first foreign player to be released in NPB history. The Kintetsu Buffaloes signed him, but he allowed 3 runs in 3 innings in 1964. DeSa only pitched 7 games in 1965, and his professional career ended. He later worked in the Tachikawa Airfield of of the USAF.

Overall, DeSa was 16-19 with a 3.78 ERA, struck out 201 and pitched 307 innings in 5 seasons in NPB.
