Desert Sun Stadium in Yuma, Arizona was originally built in 1969 prior to the 1970 Spring Training home for th San Diego Padres.The Padres would spend their springs in Yuma from 1969-1993. In 1969 the Padres would utilize nearby Keegan Field for the spring prior to Desert Sun Stadium opening. Desert Sun Stadium was the main field of the greater Ray Kroc Baseball Complex. From 1979-1998 the Yakult Swallows of the Nippon Professional Baseball also called Desert Sun Stadium their spring training home. The stadium has also been the home field for a number of independent league teams. In 1995 the Yuma Desert Dawgs of the short lived Golden State League would call Desert Sun Stadium home. For three seasons (2000-2002) the Yuma Bullfrogs of the Western Baseball League would play at the stadium. From 2005-2011 the stadium was the home field of the independent Yuma Scorpions of the Golden Baseball League. The ballpark sat 10,500 fans following the 1984 expansion to the stadium. In 2015 the Desert Sun Stadium was converted into a soccer stadium
