Biographical Information[edit]

Derek Tarapacki was a closer at Yavapai Junior College; the team finished second in the 2006 NJCAA World Series. The Toronto Blue Jays chose Derek in the 35th round of the 2005 amateur draft but he did not sign.

For 2011, Tarapacki signed with UVV in the Netherlands and was the top vote-getting reliever for the South in the 2011 Hoofdklasse All-Star Game. In that contest, he tossed a scoreless second, fanning two and allowing a Mike Duursma single; he outperformed starter Diegomar Markwell and the guy who relieved him, Craig Anderson, who both had pitched in the Olympics and the high minors.
