Biographical Information[edit]
Pitcher Davis Martin made his major league debut for the Chicago White Sox during the 2022 season, after being drafted from Texas Tech University in the 14th round of the 2018 amateur draft. He took part in the College World Series in both 2016 and 2018.
He made 9 starts in 14 appearances in his first season, going 3-6, 4.83 and logging 63 1/3 innings. However, he made just 3 starts with the AAA Charlotte Knights in 2023 before having to undergo Tommy John surgery in May. In 2024, he had to work his way back to the majors, starting with the ACL White Sox, and then pitching in High-A and AAA before making it back to the Windy City. He did not pitch badly for Chicago, putting up an ERA of 4.32 in 11 games, for an ERA+ of 95, and struck out 47 batters in 50 innings, but it was for a team that lost an American League-record 121 games, so he ended up with a record of 0-5.
In 2025, he made the White Sox's starting rotation out of spring training, and in his first outing on March 30th, he only gave up 2 unearned runs in 6 innings against the Los Angeles Angels, ending up with a no-decision. This was part of a surprisingly good beginning to the season by Chicago's starters, as they did not give up a single run in their first 28 inning. His next start on April 5th was a lot tougher, though, as he was roughed up by the Detroit Tigers for 7 runs in his first 3 innings.
