Biographical Information[edit]

The Texas Rangers drafted Darius Day in the 23rd round of the 2014 Amateur Draft from Simeon Career Academy and he played in their minor league system from 2014-2017. In his four minor league seasons, he hit .245/.362/.335 while appearing in 169 games. Day spent the 2017/2018 offseason playing ball in Australia before concluding his playing career in 2018 with the Windy City ThunderBolts of the independent Frontier League.

Day spent 2019-2023 earning a bachelor's degree in Parks, Recreation, and Leisure Studies from Chicago State University. According to his LinkedIn profile, he also did some coaching during these years.[1] One of his endeavors was working as the ACE Field Coordinator. The ACE program (Amateur City Elite) is run by Chicago White Sox Charities "to reverse the declining interest and participation in baseball among African American youth, while offering resources and mentorship to pull kids away from the dangers of some of Chicago’s most violent neighborhoods."[2] Day was a graduate of that program.

The Chicago White Sox hired Day in 2024 as a bench coach for the Winston-Salem Dash. He had the same role in 2025 with the Kannapolis Cannon Ballers.
