Daniel Schober played in the Bundesliga and for the German national team.
In the 1990 European Junior Championship, he was 0 for 3 with two walks. He debuted with the 1995 Regensburg Legionäre, hitting .289/.398/.322 and went 12-for-12 in steal attempts; the infielder fielded .935. He tied Frank Jäger foe 3rd in the Bundesliga-1 South in assists (55). He fell to .255/.333/.362 in 1996 and fielded .882. He tied for 4th with 12 assists. In '97, he produced at a .313/.466/.450 clip, fielding .981. He tied for second in HBP (8), was 5th in assists (59) and 6th in fielding (regardless of position; all the players ahead of him were primarily first basemen, catchers or outfielders). During 1998, he scored 56 runs in 38 games, hitting .403/.541/.555 and stole 26 bases in 27 tries. He fielded .921. He was among the league leaders in triples (3, tied for second, one behind Klaus Hopfensperger), runs (6th), walks (34, 3rd), OBP (8th) and steals (4th).
Schober scored 27 runs in 28 games with Regensburg in '99, hitting .303/.432/.483, then scored 8 runs in 6 postseason games. He tied for second in triples again (2, 2 behind Tarek Shaer), tied for 5th in walks (19), was second in steals (15, 21 behind the leader). The next summer, he batted .419/.576/.776 with 35 runs and 29 RBI in 28 games; by this time, he was primarily an outfielder. He was 9th in hits (36), first in triples (5, two ahead of Edward Martinez), second in walks (29, 3 behind Christian Großmann) and 7th in OBP (between Hopfensperger and Martinez).
During 2001, he scored 16 times in 16 contests and hit .389/.500/.556 even though Germany switched to using wood bats instead of aluminum. He was 9th in average and tied for third in triples (2). At the 2001 European Championship, he was at .241/.353/.276, starting in left field and batting second for the Germans. His six runs were third on the team, after Alex Borgo and Thomas Riedner. The 28-year-old hit .342/.509/.544 with 26 RBI in 28 games in 2002. He was 6th in RBI, tied for the walk lead (27), 9th in slugging and 8th in OBP. In '03, he hit .293/.457/.414. He tied Janusz Radicke for 4th with 20 walks and was 10th with 10 swipes. His last season in Germany's top loop, he batted .290/.376/.452 in 2004. His 3 triples tied Andreas Janzen for the lead. In the 2004 B-Level European Championship, he helped Germany rout the field, hitting .385/.692/.615 with 12 walks and 12 runs in 6 games.
Overall, he had hit .330/.462/.492 in the Bundesliga-1 regular seasons. Despite only two appearances with the national team, he was tied for 8th in national team annals with 17 walks (even with Jäger]] and Klaus Knüttel]]) and 3rd in OBP (.492, behind Shaer and Martin Helmig).
