Biographical Information[edit]

Dan Hanggie played for the USA national baseball team and in the minor leagues.

Hanggie was drafted by the Chicago White Sox in the 4th round of the 1977 Amateur Draft, but he didn't sign. He represented the USA in the 1979 Pan American Games. The New York Yankees selected him in the 7th round of the 1980 Amateur Draft, and he hit .253/.336/.291 in 75 games for the Nashville Sounds in 1980. Hanggie recorded a .263/.385/.388 batting line in 1981 with the Fort Lauderdale Yankees, but he slumped to .175/.292/.200 in 22 games for the Sounds. He missed the entire 1982 season, then he played 81 games with 15 homers and a .255/.351/.470 batting line in 1983 for the Bakersfield Mariners, which affiliated with the Seattle Mariners. Hanggie crushed 12 homers with a .245/.396/.387 batting line in 140 games for the Chattanooga Lookouts in 1984, and he moved to the Minnesota Twins system. He hit .269/.382/.425 with 13 homers in 134 games for the Orlando Twins in 1985, and he blasted a career-high 23 homers with a .262/.359/.478 batting line in 1986 for the Beloit Brewers. That was his last season as a professional player.
