Biographical Information[edit]
Dan Fitzgerald is a college coach.
Fitzgerald played baseball at University of St. Thomas at University of Wisconsin-River Falls, then earned his B.S. degree from University of Minnesota.
Fitzgerald started his coaching career with stops at University of Iowa in 2000-2001, North Iowa Area Community College in 2003-2004, and Flagler College in 2005-2006. He also spent 2002 as a scouting intern with the Minnesota Twins.
He was an assistant coach at Des Moines Area Community College in 2007, before taking the head coach job from 2008-2012. He took the school to the NJCAA Division II Baseball World Series in 2008, 2009, 2011, and 2012.
He then moved to Dallas Baptist University as an assistant coach and recruiting coordinator in 2013-2021. He spent 2022 in the same role at Louisiana State University. Fitzgerald then became head coach at University of Kansas in 2023. He led Kansas to the NCAA postseason in 2025 and 2026, the first appearances for the school since 2014. He was also named Big 12 Conference coach of the year in 2025 [1]
