Biographical Information[edit]

Reliever Corey Young pitched professionally from 2008 to 2013, peaking at Double-A. He was taken by the Texas Rangers in the 12th round of the 2008 amateur draft and was signed by scout Rick Matsko. His first season was his best showing: in 21 games for the Spokane Indians, he went 1-1 with a 2.79 ERA; in 29 innings, he had 34 strikeouts. Though he averaged over a K per frame the next couple of seasons, he never again had such single-season success (though he earned a spot in the Arizona Fall League in 2010).

Overall, Young went 6-11 with a 4.13 ERA in 166 games in affiliated ball. In 209 1/3 innings, he allowed 192 hits and 100 walks (1.395 WHIP), while striking out 207 batters. At all levels, he went 6-12, 4.22 in 188 games.
