Biographical Information[edit]

Relief pitcher Corey Hamman played in the minor leagues from 2002 to 2010, spending part or all of five seasons at Triple-A. He was MVP of the 2000 Division III College World Series. He was taken by the Detroit Tigers in the 12th round of the 2002 amateur draft, between infielder Callix Crabbe and pitcher Mike Esposito.

He began his professional career with a 0.36 ERA and 0.640 WHIP in 19 appearances between the Oneonta Tigers and Lakeland Tigers, then he had a 3.32 mark in 46 games for Lakeland in 2003. He slipped after that, going just 2-8 with a 4.46 ERA in 37 games (13 starts) in his first try at Triple-A in 2006. He pitched in the Arizona Fall League that year, posting a 2.77 ERA in 15 appearances for the Phoenix Desert Dogs. He was taken by the Pittsburgh Pirates/Indianapolis Indians in the Triple-A round of the 2007 Rule V Draft and spent the rest of his career in the Pirates system.

Overall, he went 30-45 with a 4.34 ERA in 340 games (65 starts) over 9 minor league seasons.
