Biographical Information[edit]

Cole Wilcox pitched for the USA junior national team in the 2017 U-18 Baseball World Cup, contributing to the USA winning Gold in the tournament. He allowed 3 hits and one unearned run in 9 innings for the Cup, beating Cuba's Marlon Pérez. He later attended the University of Georgia and was drafted by the San Diego Padres in the 3rd round of the 2020 amateur draft. He had earlier been drafted by the Washington Nationals in the 37th round of the 2018 amateur draft, but had chosen to go on to college. Before he could pitch for the Padres, however, he was traded to the Tampa Bay Rays as one of five prospects sent by the Padres to obtain ace starter Blake Snell on December 29, 2020. He then underwent Tommy John surgery in 2021.

He made his major league debut for the Rays on September 19, 2025, pitching one inning in an 11-7 loss to the Boston Red Sox. It was not the greatest of debuts as he gave up 7 runs on 4 hits and 3 walks in that innings, although only 3 of the runs were earned.
