Chet Ross played for the Boston Bees / Boston Braves from 1939 to 1944. His one full season as an everyday player was in 1940, when he hit 14 triples (second in the National League) and 17 home runs (eighth in the league) and also led the league in strikeouts. He was a left fielder.
He played baseball on a service team while in the Navy during World War II, but an injury hurt his chances of coming back to the majors.
He ended up his minor league career with the Montreal Royals.
After his baseball days Ross went back to live in the Buffalo area.
