Infielder Bud Hardin got into three games with the Chicago Cubs in 1952. He had started in the minors in 1942 and then continued in the minors through 1957. Among teams he played with in the minors, he played three years for the Houston Buffaloes and four for the Los Angeles Angels. He missed the 1943-1945 seasons, presumably because of military service during World War II.
Eddie Miksis and Roy Smalley were the regular middle infielders with the 1952 Cubs; all of his appearances were early in the season, before rosters had to be trimmed down to 25 players; the Cubs had taken him from the St. Louis Cardinals in the 1951 Rule V Draft.
