Biographical Information[edit]
Infielder Brayden Taylor, originally from Utah, was a member of the USA College National Team that played in the 2022 Haarlem Baseball Week; he was 1 for 9 with two walks, a hit-by-pitch and a run as the main DH for the US, which finished a disappointing third. He was at Texas Christian University at the time, where he had hit .314 with 13 homers and 50 RBIs in 59 games in his sophomore season. In 2023, he hit .308 with 23 homers and 70 RBIs in 67 games and played in the College World Series. He was then drafted by the Tampa Bay Rays with the 19th pick of the 2023 amateur draft.
He began his pro career in 2023 with the FCL Rays, but after three games was promoted to the Charleston RiverDogs of the Carolina League, where he hit .244 in 22 games. He played a full minor league season in 2024, getting into 114 games between the Bowling Green Hot Rods of the South Atlantic League and the Montgomery Biscuits of the Southern League. He batted .250/.365/.493 with 20 homers and 62 RBIs. he played all three positions on the left side of the infield and was named both a post-season All-Star in the Sally League and a High-A All-Star. In 2025, he played mainly third base in 108 games for Montgomery but had a wretched season with the bat, falling to .173/.289/.286, with 8 homers and 43 RBIs. This drop in production was particularly puzzling as his walk rate and strikeout rate did not change much from the previous season. He did better in the Arizona Fall League, where he hit .264 in 16 games and took part in the Rising Stars Game.
