Biographical Information[edit]
Pitcher Brandyn Garcia made his major league debut for the Seattle Mariners on July 21, 2025. Four days later, he was traded to the Arizona Diamondbacks along with Ashton Izzi in return for 1B Josh Naylor.
Garcia was drafted by Seattle in the 11th round of the 2023 amateur draft out of Texas A&M University, where he had played just one season after transferring from Quinnipiac University in his home state of Connecticut. The Aggies had been to the College World Series the year before Brandyn pitched for them, and returned there in 2024, but missed out in 2023.
He had a relatively quick rise through the Mariners' minor league system, making it to the show in just two calendar years. He started out in 2023 with the ACL Mariners and was quickly promoted to the Modesto Nuts of the California League, going 0-1, 1.80 in 9 games between the two stops. In 2024, he split his season between the Class A Everett AquaSox in the Northwest League and the Arkansas Travelers in the AA Texas League, going 6-2, 2.25 as a starting pitcher, with 134 strikeouts in 116 innings. In 2025, he started the year with Arkansas, making 24 appearances in relief, then was promoted to the AAA Tacoma Rainiers on June 25th. He pitched 8 more times for Tacoma, giving him a record of 5-4, 3.51 with 5 saves in 32 games combined, before he was called up to Seattle. He pitched twice for the Mariners, giving up 2 runs (1 earned) in two innings, before being traded.
