Biographical Information[edit]
Bobby Wilson played in the Cincinnati Reds system from 1950 to 1952. His best season was his last, as he hit .303/.373/.430 with 7 home runs and 73 RBI in 156 games for the Columbia Reds - however, he was a 28-year-old playing at Single-A. Overall, he hit .292 with about 18 home runs and 172 RBI in 381 games.
He later became the head coach at Carson-Newman University, serving in that role from 1965 to 1987. He replaced Frosty Holt and was replaced by Gary Rundles. His teams won the Volunteer State Athletic Conference tournament in 1965, 1967 and 1974. They won the 1965 NAIA College World Series, beating Municipal University of Omaha.
He served in the U.S. military during World War II.
