Biographical Information[edit]
In his only major league appearance, former high school football star Bob Daughters, recently signed by the Boston Red Sox, pinch-ran for future Hall of Famer Rick Ferrell in the 10th inning on April 24, 1937 and scored a run against the New York Yankees. He mostly played outfield, third base, and first base in the minor leagues, his career lasting form 1937 to 1942.
He was a lieutenant in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He would later go on to become President of Holy Cross' Varsity Club in 1961 and continued to enjoy baseball and followed the Red Sox until the day he died. Holy Cross was both a high school and a university when he was a student there.
