Biographical Information

Austin Slater was originally drafted by the Los Angeles Dodgers in 2011 as a shortstop but chose not to sign. He instead decided to attend Stanford University and was drafted three years later by their biggest rival, the San Francisco Giants. He played as an outfielder and also spent some time at second base in the minor leagues, but was used almost exclusively an outfielder by the time he reached the majors. He played his first big league game on June 2, 2017 against the Philadelphia Phillies.
