Biographical Information[edit]

Pitcher Andrew Hoffmann was originally drafted by the Atlanta Braves in the 12th round of the 2021 amateur draft, out of the University of Illinois. One year later, on July 11, 2022, he was traded to the Kansas City Royals along with Drew Waters and CJ Alexander in return for Kansas City's pick in Competitive Balance Round A of the 2022 amateur draft. The Braves selected pitcher JR Ritchie with the pick.

Hoffmann made his major league debut with the Royals on May 30, 2025, pitching the final two innings of a 7-5 loss to the Detroit Tigers. Kansas City was trailing 5-4 when he entered the game, but he allowed a pair of runs in the 8th, including a solo homer by Spencer Torkelson, that put the game away. He only made three appearances for the Royals, with no decisions and a 3.86 ERA in 4 2/3 innings, before being sent back to the minors, and then traded to the Arizona Diamondbacks on July 26th in return for veteran OF Randal Grichuk.
