Biographical Information[edit]

Pitcher Anderson Brito was signed by the Houston Astros as an international amateur free agent on November 1, 2023. He spent two seasons in the Astros' minor league system. In 2024, he went 4-2, 1.51 in 15 games (9 starts) spread among three teams: the DSL Astros Blue, the FCL Astros and the Fayetteville Woodpeckers. He struck out 82 batters in 53 2/3 innings whole allowing just 28 hits. In 2025, he spent the entire season in the South Atlantic League with the Asheville Tourists where in 12 starts, he went 0-1, 3.28. He continued to display overpowering stuff, with 65 strikeouts in 48 1/3 innings, but his season ended with an injury at the end of June. By the time he was ready to pitch again, the minor league season had ended, so he went to the Arizona Fall League where he was 2-0, 3.97 in 4 games against much older competition.

On December 19, 2025, he was traded twice in one day, both times with fellow prospect OF Jacob Melton, who had made his big league debut during the season. He was first traded to the Pittsburgh Pirates in return for P Mike Burrows, then the pair was flipped to the Tampa Bay Rays in return for three major league players: 2B Brandon Lowe, OF Jake Mangum and P Mason Montgomery.
