Biographical Information

Pitcher Alex Clemmey was drafted by the Cleveland Guardians in the 2nd round of the 2023 amateur draft, out of a high school in Rhode Island. He began his professional career in 2024 with the Lynchburg Hillcats of the Carolina League, where he went 1-4, 4.67 in 19 starts. On July 29th, he was traded to the Washington Nationals alongside José Tena and Rafael Ramirez Jr. in return for Lane Thomas. He finished the year with the Fredericksburg Nationals, staying in the Carolina League, and going 0-1, 4.30 in 6 games.

In 2025, he started the season with the Wilmington Blue Rocks of the South Atlantic League, going 7-4, 2.47 in 19 games. That earned him a chance to pitch in the 2025 Futures Game, and also a promotion to the Harrisburg Senators of the AA Eastern League. He made another 6 starts there, finishing at 0-1, 6.44. Overall, he pitched 116 2/3 innings, allowing just 88 hits and striking out 136 opponents, although he also walked 73.
