Ales Smrekar
Ales Smrekar was the first shortstop for the Slovenian national team in a European Championship. When they debuted in the 1995 European Championship, he hit 6th and went 0-for-2 against Dante Carbini of Italy before being replaced by Engelbert Karcovnik. His first hit was off Russia's Rinat Makhmutov. He was 2-for-14 but had six errors in the field (5 PO, 8 A). Only Magnus Jönsson and Rudi Brouwers had more errors in the 1995 Euros. His .684 fielding was not the lowest of any qualifying shortstop as Oliver Fimmers was lower. [1]
