Biographical Information[edit]

Outfielder Adam Godwin played college ball at Troy University in 2014-2015. A member of Troy baseball’s 2013 Hall of Fame class, he holds Troy’s career record for stolen bases with 112, and his .374 batting average is seventh all-time. In 2005, Godwin led the NCAA and set Troy’s single-season record with 84 stolen bases. He also set the single season record for singles (75) and is fifth in hits (90). For his efforts, Godwin was named the Atlantic Sun Conference Player of the Year and a second-team All-American.[1] The Los Angeles Dodgers subsequently drafted Godwin in the 11th round of the 2005 amateur draft. He spent 5 seasons in the Dodgers' chain, reaching AA. Godwin then spent another 5 seasons in independent ball along with a brief stint in Mexico.

After his playing career ended, the Pittsburgh Pirates hired him to coach in their minor league system. He started as a player/coach in 2015 with the West Virginia Black Bears. On June 19th, he transferred to the Bradenton Marauders for the remainder of the season. Godfrey returned to the Black Bears in 2016 in the same role. In 2017, Godwin became a full-time coach with the Marauders and he stayed with them in 2018. Godwin moved to the Philadelphia Phillies organization in 2019 as a coach for the Lakewood BlueClaws.

Godwin went back to Troy University and served as the baseball team's Director of Player Performance and Development for the 2020 and 2021 seasons. The Trojans promoted him to assistant coach in 2022 where he remained through the 2026 season. In 2025 Godwin took on the additional role of Outfield & Baserunning Coordinator.
