Biographical Information[edit]
Óscar Rayo has pitched in the minors.
He was signed by the Kansas City Royals and was 1-0 with a 3.92 ERA for the 2021 DSL Royals Blue; he walked only 3 in 20 2/3 innings while striking out 25. In the 2021 U-23 Baseball World Cup, he threw 2 2/3 shutout innings and got the win over the Netherlands' Gio de Graauw. [1] He had a 7.71 ERA in 3 games that winter for the Leones de León. In the summer, he pitched for the DSL Royals Glass (0.53 ERA in 5 G), ACL Royals (1-0, 0 R in 4 IP) and Columbia Fireflies (1-1, Sv, 3.91 in 8 G), striking out 50 and only issuing 9 walks in 44 innings overall. In the winter, he was 0-1 with a 9.35 ERA for the Gigantes de Rivas.
Back with Columbia for 2023, he was 5-2 with two saves and a 3.15 ERA. He went 6-0 with two saves and a 2.13 ERA for the Quad Cities River Bandits. With the Indios del Bóer in winter ball, he had a 0-1, 4.91 record. He was 2-4 with a save and a 3.70 ERA for the 2025 Northwest Arkansas Naturals. Going to the Dominican Winter League for 2025-2026, he was 1-1 with a 4.15 ERA for the Águilas Cibaeñas.
Rayo was then picked for the Nicaraguan national team for the 2026 World Baseball Classic, joining Elian Rayo as Rayos on Nicaragua.
