Biographical Information[edit]
Yuzo Shimada played in Nippon Pro Baseball for 5 years.
Shimada signed with the Daiei Stars in 1952, and he hit .216/.308/.303 in 110 games in his first season. He had a .262/.326/.345 batting line in 120 games in 1953, and he collected 18 steals with a .231/.321/.330 batting line in 1954. Shimada then hit .228/.303/.284 in 115 games in 1955, but he slumped to .190/.263/.223 in 1956 and he announced his retirement. He was the minor league fielding coach for the Hanshin Tigers from 1965 to 1966.
Overall, Shimada hit .227/.306/.301 with 491 hits and 19 homers in 5 seasons in NPB.
