Biographical Information[edit]

Yuya Oda played in Nippon Pro Baseball for 10 years.

Oda was drafted by the Orix Buffaloes in the 8th round of the 2014 NPB draft, and he had a .326/.362/.461 batting line in 31 games in 2015. He slumped to .137/.211/.137 in 2016, and he struggled again at the plate as he had a 1-for-17 record in 2017. Oda bounced back soon in 2018, and he played 90 games with 10 steals and a .287/.348/.378 batting line. He then crushed 3 homers with a .206/.275/.306 batting line in 2019, and he hit .239/.264/.352 in 87 games in 2020. Oda played 101 games as backup outfielder in 2021, and he only got a hit in one of 15 at-bats that season; frequently pinch-running, he scored 18 times. He appeared in 4 of 6 games in the 2021 Nippon Series, but the Buffaloes lost to the Yakult Swallows. Oda went 5-for-24 in 72 games in 2022, and he was 1-for-2 in 5 games in the 2022 Nippon Series; the Buffaloes beat the Swallows this time in 7 games. He then hit .290/.333/.419 in 77 games in 2023, and he got 2 runs in 4 games in the 2023 Nippon Series; the Hanshin Tigers beat Orix in 7 games. Oda was 3-for-14 in 2024, and he announced his retirement.

Overall, Oda hit .239/.294/.338 with 163 hits and 10 homers in 10 seasons in NPB.
