Biographical Information[edit]
Yuta Watanabe played in Nippon Pro Baseball for 3 years.
Watanabe pitched for the independent Oisix Niigata Albirex Baseball Club from 2014 to 2017, and he completed 2/3 of a shutout inning for the Melbourne Aces in the 2016-2017 ABL. He was drafted by the Softbank Hawks in the sixth round of the development phase in the 2017 NPB draft, and he stayed in the NPB Farm Leagues in his first two seasons. Watanabe pitched 1 2/3 shutout innings in 2020, and he had a 4.50 ERA in 6 games in 2021. Although he recorded a solid 1.67 ERA in 34 appearances in the minors, the Hawks still released him. Watanabe then signed with the Hanshin Tigers, and he notched 10 holds with a 2.45 ERA in 32 appearances in 2022. However, he was placed in the minors for the entire 2023 season, and he announced his retirement.
Overall, Watanabe was 3-1 with a 2.63 ERA, struck out 23 and pitched 24 innings in 3 seasons in NPB.
