Biographical Information

Yuhi Nishidate has pitched in Nippon Pro Baseball.

Nishidate was drafted by the Yomiuri Giants and Nippon Ham Fighters in the first round of the 2023 NPB draft, and the Giants won the lottery for the right to him; the scout was Hidetoshi Tsuburaya. He debuted against the Hanshin Tigers on March 29, 2024, and he set a NPB record by getting a hold in each of his first 10 games. Nishidate ended up collecting 20 holds with a 3.82 ERA in 28 appearances in his rookie year, and he won a vote in the CL Rookie of the Year Voting. He pitched for the Cangrejeros de Santurce in the winter, and he had a 4.97 ERA in 5 appearances.

Nishidate's repertoire included a fastball (peak 96.3 mph), a splitter, cutter, slider and curveball.
